The Big Three in Kpop

We all are totally in love with our k-pop bands and in doing so its not too late when we dream of becoming like them, to audition for any of these big k-pop companies, live the trainee life and finally to debut as an idol. While talking about k-pop companies there are currently more than 4000 official entertainment labels in Korea and out of these the three major or biggest companies that are dreams for every trainee, famously known as the big three-SM, JYP and YG. Today lets have a look at these major k pop labels -

YG Entertainment

It was established by Yang Hyun-suk in 1996. He worked as the CEO and head of the YG  until recently when he is replaced by Hwang Bo Kyung as the CEO. Although YG is not having a good time lately because of various scandals related to their artists but we cannot ignore the fact that they have given us some of the biggest k pop sensations of all time. They have their own unique style which gets reflected in the music created by their artists. they are very strictly hip hop based and are usually the trendsetters. Rap is always included in their music, it might occur as a melody. YG prefer hard work and talent over visuals and other factors. some popular YG artists include-

SM Entertainment

Often considered as the biggest entertainment company of Korea, SM Entertainment was founded by Lee Soo-man. the company has developed and popularized numerous K-pop stars with huge global fandoms. SM has been said to lead the global k-pop phenomenon and the musical side of 'Hallyu' also known as the Korean wave. Some of their characteristics include that they buy a lot of their songs from overseas producers and also choreographies from oversea dancers & their melodies have a specific colour and an ambience that represent SM. Their artists are mainly known for their visuals. SM is also really famous for its non-sensual, funky kind of lyrics that are actually fun. Some of their famous artists include-

JYP Entertainment

It was established by Jung-Young park in the year 1995 who is still active in the Kpop industry unlike the founders of the other two. JYP's music is mainly jazz and hip hop based in JY park's style, they have a signature feeling of vocals that they often produce, as JYP likes artists that aren't focused on skills but straight forward singing with simple melody they mainly look for healthy and well-mannered qualities while choosing their next idols.
